Generator manufacturers analyze what preparations need to be made before starting a diesel generator set for operation

As an important backup power source, the generator set is not commonly seen in daily life, but it still exists around us in various places such as residential communities, hotels, banks, hospitals, etc. Today, Runlan Power, a generator manufacturer in Hefei, will take you to understand what preparations need to be made before starting the generator set:

Firstly, in cold regions, antifreeze must be injected into the water tank. The fuel grade should be selected based on the ambient temperature.

Secondly, do not immediately run the engine under high load after starting in the cold season to avoid damaging the engine. Pay attention to the normal oil pressure and water temperature before increasing the load operation.

Thirdly, when shutting down under heavy load conditions, it should be done after running at no-load or idle for 3-5 minutes, otherwise it is easy to damage the turbocharger and cause the piston to pull the cylinder.

1.1.2 Preparation work before unit operation/start-up

Pre startup inspection work

Check the engine oil: Check whether the model and grade of the lubricating oil meet the requirements of the engine and environment, and check the oil level of the engine lubricating oil. The normal oil level is between L and H. Pay attention to the oil consumption compared to the previous oil level. The normal oil consumption of the engine is less than 5 ‰ of the fuel consumption.

Check the coolant level: Check if the coolant in the water tank is full, check if there is any water leakage in the tank, if the radiator network is blocked, check if there are any preservatives or antifreeze added to the coolant. Distilled water or softened water should be used as the coolant. Attention, do not open the water tank cover when the machine is just stopped to prevent burns. After the inspection, be sure to cover the water tank lid properly.

Check fuel: Check if the fuel grade matches the ambient temperature, check for oil residue and moisture at the bottom of the fuel tank and oil-water separator, check for oil and gas leaks in the fuel pipes, and if there is air in the fuel circuit, it must be purged. Check if the fuel pipe valve is open.

1.1.3 Preparation work before unit operation/start-up

Check the battery: Check the battery level indicator (if there is an indicator, usually blue indicates normal battery level), check if the battery level is appropriate, between low and high levels, not too full, and not too low. The acidity density of the battery fluid is 1.28, and confirm based on the acidity density of the fluid

Add supplementary liquid or distilled water. Check if the battery connection is secure.

Check the unit circuit: Check if the output cable of the generator is secure, if the insulation is damaged, and if the control circuit is loose, open, or short circuited.

Check various connections: Check the tightness, damage, and offset of the fan belt, water pump belt, and charging generator belt, and inspect the water and air pipes of various soft connections for looseness and damage.

Check the intake and exhaust: Check if the intake and exhaust are normal, check if the intake of the turbocharger is blocked, if the intake pressure indicator shows red indicating intake blockage, and check if the intercooler is leaking air.

Check for foreign objects in the generator, generator, and water tank.
